About the Las Vegas Soaring Club

The Las Vegas Soaring Club is the oldest and largest radio control model sailplane (glider) club in Southern Nevada. We fly R/C sailplanes and electric powered models.

Our sailplanes range from ‘normal’ Two-Meter (78-inch wingspan) trainers to multi-function composite sailplanes with wingspans measuring over 10 feet in length (and everything in between).

Over half of our members fly both sailplanes and electric powered models. Our ‘electrics’ range from the popular ‘Park Flyers’ to e-sailplanes, aerobatic aircraft to multi-motored scale models.

We have something for everyone who wants to fly non-gas powered R/C models!

Our flying field is located two miles west of the I-215 Beltway on Charleston Blvd (near Red Rock center). We have ample on site parking.

We fly every Thursday and Saturday throughout the year. Flying starts about 9:00 AM during the summer months and 10:00 AM during the ‘winter’ months.

We fly ONLY electrics on Thursdays. We fly BOTH electrics and sailplanes on Saturdays.

Need help learning to fly? We have experienced pilots who can teach you safe flying.

Club meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at our flying field.

In addition to our yearly dues of $25, the requirements for membership are:

We are a Charter Club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA Charter # 3309).

We always have openings for new members.
